For Students
Students* are required to complete UA Safe Title IX training annually.
- UA/UAA/UAS: UA Safe Title IX training (Blackboard)
- UAF: UA Safe Title IX training (Canvas)
For Employees
Employees are required to complete UA Safe Title IX training annually.
New employees are expected to complete the training within 30 days of hire.

For Volunteers

UA Safe Title IX Training FAQs
Completing the Training
All University of 猫咪社区官网 (UA) employees, all degree-seeking students, (which includes certificate, associate, bachelor鈥檚, master鈥檚, and Ph.D. as well as students living in campus housing, online students, North Star College students enrolled at the 猫咪社区官网 or on national/international exchange) and all volunteers at the 猫咪社区官网 are required to complete the UA Safe Title IX Training annually.
UAF students, employees, and volunteers should take the training in Canvas. University of 猫咪社区官网 System Office employees and UAA/UAS students, employees, and volunteers should complete the training in Blackboard. Visit the UA Title IX Training and Prevention page to learn more about training requirements for each campus.

The training should take approximately 1 hour to complete.
You can log in and out of the training as needed and resume where you left off.
The deadline to complete the training is October 31st. There are a few limited exceptions to the October 31st deadline:
- New or Transferring Students (Spring Semester Only)
- Students transferring or beginning classes in the Spring semester have until March 31st to complete the training.
- New Employees
- New employees are required to complete the training within 30 days from their date of hire.
- New Volunteers
- New volunteers are required to complete the training prior to engaging in 猫咪社区官网 volunteer work.
The Title IX training cycle is from July 1st to June 30th the following year.
For the current FY26 training cycle, training completed anytime between July 1st, 2025, and June 30th, 2026 will be valid until June 30th, 2026.
The consequences for failing to fulfill your training requirements depend on your role at the 猫咪社区官网.
- Students
- Students who fail to complete the mandatory Title IX Training will be considered out of compliance.
- Employees
- Supervisors are required to ensure compliance with required training and address an untrained individual's performance within the employee's performance evaluation. The Title IX Coordinator provides regular training reports to unit leadership during the last month of the training cycle.
- UAF Employees: Per , non-compliance may result in implementation of the progressive discipline process (i.e., verbal warning, written reprimand, notice of intent to take corrective action up to and including termination of employment).
- Volunteers
- Volunteers are required to complete the training prior to their service, failure to do so will bar the individual from volunteering until they've taken the training.
For Blackboard Ultra (UA/UAA/UAS)
When you have fulfilled all the training requirements, refresh the browser tab. You should see "UA Safe Title IX Training FY26 - Complete!" at the top of the Course Content. You can also confirm your completion by following these steps:
- Click on the Achievements tab on the top course menu (This tab will not appear until you have completed the training. You may need to refresh your browser.).
- Click on the badge "UA Safe Title IX Training FY26 - Complete!鈥
- View, download, or print your UA Safe Title IX Training certificate.
For Canvas (UAF)
You should receive an email with a certificate of completion once you鈥檝e fulfilled all the training requirements or you can confirm your completion by following these steps:
- Navigate to the .
- Log in using your UA credentials (or if you are a volunteer, log in using the username and password you created to access this training).
- Select your name on the right side of the screen and click 鈥淪tudent Dashboard.鈥
- Click 鈥淐ompleted鈥 on the top left.
- View, download, or print your UA Safe Title IX Training certificate.

Yes. We recognize that some individuals who may be asked to take this training have experienced sex and gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment, and other related forms of harm. In the event you are unable to complete this training due to personal experiences, please complete the appropriate release request:
Who is Required to Take the Training?
Yes, Title IX training is an annual requirement for all students, employees, and volunteers and is refined and updated with new information each year.
No. If you are affiliated with multiple campuses, please take the training through the campus you are primarily affiliated with. If you are primarily affiliated with the UA System Office, UAA, or UAS, you should complete your annual training in Blackboard, and if you are primarily affiliated with UAF, please complete the training in Canvas.
The Blackboard and Canvas trainings are the same, and completions are documented in the official training record in Banner, which is accessible to all three campus Title IX Coordinators. If you or a supervisor have questions regarding your training completion, you may contact your Title IX Coordinator.
No. If you have attended an official live/in-person Title IX training hosted by your Title IX Office after July 1st, 2025, you have fulfilled your training requirements for the July 1st, 2025 - June 30th, 2026 training cycle and do not need to take an online version of the training.
New students, employees, and volunteers should take the training as soon as possible to ensure that they are not out of compliance. New employees must complete the training within 30 days of hire and new volunteers must complete the training prior to their volunteer service.

The University of 猫咪社区官网 is required to train individuals on UA-specific policies and procedures, notify individuals of VAWA and Clery information, as well as provide information on resources available at each 猫咪社区官网 (UAF, UAA, UAS). This is different from the information and required processes individuals are trained on elsewhere.
Yes! You must still complete the UA Safe Title IX Training. While we're happy to hear that you're helping make your community a safer place through your advocacy or compliance work, the University of 猫咪社区官网 is required to train individuals on UA-specific policies and procedures, notify individuals of VAWA and Clery information, as well as provide information on resources available at each 猫咪社区官网 (UAF, UAA, UAS). This is different from the information and required processes individuals are trained on elsewhere.
Even our Title IX Coordinators and Investigators (who have extensive knowledge of
Title IX at UA and are tasked with providing live Title IX trainings to the UA community)
are required to take the UA Safe Title IX Training every year!
Yes. All degree-seeking students and all employees are required to take the training. Title IX responsibilities and resources apply to all UA community members, regardless of where and how they study/work.
