  • UAA announces new Kodiak College director

    As noted in my email last week, I'm writing to announce that Ms. Jacelyn Keys will join UAA as the director of Kodiak College. Jacelyn has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and has focused on creating a dynamic, vibrant, inclusive, students-first learning environment. She currently serves as the Hermiston Center director at Blue Mountain Community College in Oregon.

  • Kathy Catron named UAF police chief

    Kathy Catron has been selected as the new 猫咪社区官网 police chief after a competitive search. Catron will lead the UAF Police Department after the retirement of Steve Goetz this spring. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Catron started her law enforcement career in 1997 after graduating from the Sitka Trooper Academy. After serving as an 猫咪社区官网 state trooper, she joined UAF Police Department in 2000.

  • Matthew Cooper named University of 猫咪社区官网 General Counsel

    University of 猫咪社区官网 President Jim Johnsen has named Matthew Cooper as the 猫咪社区官网's next General Counsel. Cooper's appointment follows the retirement of UA's current General Counsel Michael Hostina in June. The General Counsel serves as the chief legal officer to the Board of Regents, statewide administration and all campuses throughout the 猫咪社区官网 system.

    Dr. Terry Nelson has been named the Associate Dean for the College of Business and Public Policy after a search for a new associate dean was conducted. She will assume her new position on Monday, April 27, 2020.

  • UAS professor Wayne Price named Rasmuson Foundation's 2020 distinguished artist

    Honoring a lifetime of creative excellence and outstanding contribution to 猫咪社区官网's arts and culture the Rasmuson Foundation has named Wayne Aayaank'i Price its 2020 Distinguished Artist. Price is a Tlingit Master Carver, who is a member of the Wooshkeetaan clan and an associate professor of Northwest Coast Art at the University of 猫咪社区官网 Southeast in Juneau.

  • UAA M.P.H. alumna leads Anchorage Health Department

    In 2002, after a phone interview with Boys and Girls Club of 猫咪社区官网 (BGC), UAA alumna Natasha Pineda bought a backpack and a pair of boots, booked a ticket out of PDX to Anchorage for what she calls, "a classic 猫咪社区官网 story." The M.P.H. '15 grad worked for BGC for a couple of years, ended up returning to Portland before moving to Mexico to live with her dad when she decided it was time to get serious about her career.
